After our chocolate excursion, we headed over here to get our drink on.

    First Snow at The Gibson
  • First Snow (Finlandia Vodka, Muscat Syrup, White Cranberry Juice, Lime, Champagne) – A very light drink. A favorite of the ladies. Slightly sweet, almost like a light lemonade, topped with mint leaves and cranberries.
  • Satin Sheets at The Gibson
  • Satin Sheets (Siete Leguas Tequila, Velvet Falernum, Agave Syrup) – As someone described it, it tasted like limeade. It had a bit of a edge to it.
  • Jackelope at The Gibson
  • Jackelope (Weller Antique 107 Bourbon, American Oak Infused Maple Syrup, Lemon, Orange) – The Bourbon really came through on this. There is a hint of sweetness from the drink.
  • The Expat at The Gibson
  • The Expat (Dolin Dry Vermouth, Dolin Sweet Vermouth, Plymouth Sloe Gin, Lemon, Peychaud Bitters) – Sloe Gin is the winner here, but a bit sweet and tart as well. As a friend described it, a little sangria like.
  • Salad Days Sour at The Gibson
  • Salad Days Sour (Celery-infused Macchu Pisco, Lemon, The Bitter Truth Celery Bitters, Burnt Cinnamon) – A favorite of many around the table. The celery juice was heightened with the cinnamon. Overall a very smooth and innovative drink It felt like one was drinking a trendy salad (it tastes better than it sounds).
  • Jasmine at The Gibson
  • Jasmine (Gin, Campari, Cointreau, Lemon) Billed by the waitress as something that taste like grapefruit juice, and it definitely did taste like a grapefruit juice with some strong gin in it.
  • Oriental at The Gibson
  • Oriental (Whiskey, Vermouth, Lemon, Cointreau) – It tasted like the Jackelope however with less of a sweet taste.
  • Overproof Mojito at The Gibson
  • Overproof Mojito – A very strong mojito. Great mint and basil tastes. A nice sweet and tart taste to it as well.

Decor: Nice cozy booth. The booth is situated ideally for six people; however, we were able to squeeze the eight of us into the booth. The doorman was nice and not at all snooty, very friendly. Our waitress was great as well, she was real knowledgeable without sounding too much like a snob.  The lighting was great.  Dark enough to set the mood without it being overly dark. We had heard complaints that the drinks take forever to make. It did take a while for them to whip up seven drinks for us, but there were a lot of us and we really didn’t notice as we were chatting it up with each other.

Overall Assessment: ($, 6/10) – The drinks at PX are better. However all of us agreed that we love the fact that we didn’t have to be yelling at the top of our lungs to have a conversation as in other crowded bars around DC. The way that the booth is constructed, the noise stays outside while you’re able to hold a conversation in the alcove. There is no food here and the drinks are reasonable for the price in DC, about $10 – $15 for drinks.
