Why would one pay $40 for a tour of Pike Place when one can make there only food tour for less? All it requires is some research on the Internet. Breakfast was here this morning.

  • Orange Marmalade and Ricotta Cheese and Almond Butter Crumpet – A little over the top on sweetness, but the crunchy crumpet and the blend of tart marmalade and sticky almond butter made for a very satisfying combination. Didn’t really notice the ricotta cheese though.
  • Pesto with Fresh Tomato and Parmesan Cheese – We decided that we needed a salty crumpet to go with the sweet. Very good call on our part. Nice fresh tomato. The pesto went well with the tomato and the large amount of parmesan sprinkled cheese.
  • Double Latte with Vanilla – We got this due to the special that we saw regarding the lattes for early birds. The vanilla shot was very very subtle. The coffee was strong yet smooth taste. Went well with the crumpets.

Decor: Some tables in the front as well as some counter stools only the walls and facing the streets. Really basic setup with the wire chairs and the patio tables. The guy was friendly considering that it was still fairly early in the morning. Bus your own tables and grab your food from the counter.

Overall Assessment: ($, 4/10) – The crumpets were nice but again fairly expensive for half a English muffin with toppings. The ingredients were fresh. The coffee was really so so. In our opinion only the tomato crumpet shone while the sweet one was disappointing.

It was a free for all for dinner. Everyone split apart and got their own stuff.

  • English Beer Battered Fish + Chips – The fish was very crisp and had a good distinct flavor. The beer batter was enough to coat the fish without it enveloping the whole fish. The cod was flaky and cooked to perfection. I seriously would have to consider this for one of the best fried fish we’ve had. The fries on the other hand were a little disappointing. A bit soggy and lacked any flavoring.
  • Tomato and Mozzarella Salad – I don’t know why the wife got an Italian salad at a British pub, but the results were pretty predictable. The tomatoes were not that great and not sweet at all. The mozzarella was a bit bland and a little watery as well.

Decor: We got this to go but we were able to see inside the place and it had a nice cozy feel to it. British signs and booths adorn the place. We did wait forever and a day for our order. That meant that cooked it to order, but man it took a really long time. I wish we had more time cause I would have pulled up a seat and had myself some Newcastle on tap.

Overall Assessment: ($, 4/10) We got the fish and chips to go which is a reasonable $10. Other entrees though were in the $15 -$20 range. The prices are reasonable considering the location. If you are in the mood for British cuisine, their menu screams of it. The fish was good, though the rest of the entrees were so – so.
