After hitting Amicci’s, we always have to go to Vaccaro’s.
- Cannoli – We got the ones that you package yourself at home. The shells were crispy and deep fried well. The cream with chocolate chips went really well with the shell. Kinda a pain to stuff the shell with cream yourself, but it sure beats a soft shell mess. The cannoli fillings was smooth with the ricotta, almonds and sugar. Very well done.
- Tartuffo – Chocolate ice cream with hazelnut and and cherry in the center. The chocolate shell on the outside contains everything nicely. Really nice how they stacked the hazelnuts on top of the cherry.
- Vanilla Raspberry Truffle – Raspberry sorbet encase in a white chocolate. Everything blends well together. Sorbet is flavorful and goes well with the chocolate.
- Spumoni – Mixture of cherry, chocolate and pistachio gelato. The cherry had pieces of real cherries in it. The chocolate was so, so. The pistachio had chunks of pistachio but overall pales in comparison to Dairy Godmother custard.
Decor: Simple cafe Setup. You walk in and the place is done with mirrors. The takeout counter is there with an assortment of cookies and cakes and gelato.
Overall Assessment: ($, 8/10) – We love the desserts here. We are particularly fond of the frozen stuff as evidenced by the order.
